DPWH to build more school buildings in ARMM


COTABATO CITY: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) on Tuesday signed five contracts worth P179.5 million for various infrastructure pro–jects, including 212 classrooms in two provinces.

DPWH-ARMM Secretary Emil Sadain and ARMM Gov. Mujiv Hataman said the infra projects will be completed before the present ARMM administration ends in 2016.

BRIMA Construction will build 110 classrooms worth P90.5 million in the first and second districts of Lanao del Sur.

The construction of 102 classrooms in the second district of Maguindanao will be handled by Stoneline Construction and Hexamindz. Stoneline will build 43 classrooms for P43,031,340 while Hexamindz bagged the contract to construct 59 classrooms for P45,898,380.

Other contracts signed were Hi-Tri for the concrete road project at Barangay Lower Taviran, Ka–buntalan worth P48,500,021.81 under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (Pamana) fund and Tiger Motor Sales Corp. for the supply of heavy equipment worth P26.5 million.

The contract signing was held at the newly-renovated Office of the Bangsamoro People building, which was partly funded by the DPWH-ARMM.

The DPWH-ARMM has saved P250 million through its bidding procedures and reform agenda since 2012. The agency contributed P35 million for the renovation of the Office of the Bangsa–moro People building.

Sadain said other projects which are expected to be complete before the end of 2016 are the concreting of a 992-kilometer national highway, construction of 1,342 kilometers of roads covering 160 municipalities, Lake Lanao circumferential road improvement and rehabilitation of seaports and water supply systems.
