MORE than 700 infrastructure projects in Northern Mindanao were completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in 2015 and these are expected to boost investments in the region.
The DPWH named its regional office in Northern Mindanao (DPWH-Region 10) as its best performing office last year after completing 717 infrastructure projects.
“The completed projects, according to DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson, will further boost the potentials of Northern Mindanao as an investment area,” a statement from the DPWH read.
DPWH Region 10 Director Evelyn Barroso said that with the cooperation and participation of staff from the regional office and 13 district engineering offices (DEOs), they were able to accomplish 94.38 percent or 717 projects out of the 875 projects for 2015 worth P18.7 billion.
Of the 717 completed infrastructure contracts, 39 are asset preservation of national roads; 41 are road network development projects; 23 are road upgrading projects; and are 68 bridges construction/maintenance projects.
There were also 17 flood management services; four access roads leading to tourism destinations; 12 water supply and rainwater collector construction/rehabilitation projects; 512 under various infrastructure and local infrastructure programs; and one national building program project.
“We will complete the remaining 156 ongoing projects early this year while we strive for early procurement of projects under the 2016 General Appropriations Act,” said Barroso.
Total DPWH projects for Northern Mindanao this year are valued at P31.1 billion.
