The bridge will serve as a by-pass road for transportation of goods and passengers going to and from Culasi Port and the municipality of Panay and adjoining north-eastern towns of Capiz, without passing through the central business area of Roxas City.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and Department of Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya graced the inauguration of the bridge.
Also present were DPWH Region 6 director Edilberto D. Tayao and assistant director Lea N. Delfinado, District Engr. Sanny Boy Oropel and local officials from Capiz and Roxas City.
The cost of construction includes a two-lane Waagner Biro Modular Steel Bridge (Truss Type) 95.80 lineal meters long and a 2.94-kilometer access road with 1.50-meter shoulders on both sides.
The project aims to provide fast and reliable transport system between urban and rural areas that would consequently spread agriculture and fishery development.
