President Rodrigo Duterte has reappointed The Manila Times’ chairman emeritus, Dr. Dante A. Ang, as special envoy for international public relations until next year.
Dr. Ang was first appointed to the post in May.
In his capacity as special envoy, Dr. Ang is mandated to “advise the Foreign Affairs department and other relevant government agencies on public relations and the country’s image-building efforts, as well as assist these agencies in generating a positive image for the Philippines related to Philippine advocacies and policies.”
Dr. Ang is a veteran in public relations, having served as the publicist of former President Gloria Arroyo from 1999 to 2003. He also served as chairman of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, with Cabinet rank, during the Arroyo administration (December 2005 to June 30, 2010).
Dr. Ang was one of the 46 appointees whose appointment papers were released on Wednesday.
Appointments were made in the Office of the Cabinet Secretary, Human Rights Victims Claims Board, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Agriculture, Department of Education, Department of Finance, Professional Regulatory Commission and Department of the Interior and Local Government.
