Drag racing returns to Batangas track

THE National Drag Racing Championship returns to the Batangas Racing Circuit on April 5 for the third round of the Southern Series.

More than 100 entries coming from Laguna, Cavite, Quezon, the Bicol region, Metro Manila and Tarlac are expected to compete for the titles in the Pro, Expert, Sportsman, Hotstreet and Thunder classes. The eight fastest cars of the day will race in the Quick 8 division.

Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing, aboard a Nissan GT-R, will defend his title in Quick 8. In the previous round last March, Tiu was able to post a fastest quarter-mile time of 9.429 seconds. He now aims to break the eight-second mark as he faces stiff competition from Martin Manalo of RSL Motorsports, Allan Ararao of W-AutoSport and JCT-Blanche teammate Rommel Dural.

Registration fee is P2,700 per entry and includes insurance and an AAP day license. Entrance fee for spectators is P50 per person. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m., competition at 11 a.m.
