Driver of Batangas mayor’s wife killed


Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna: The security cum driver of the wife of Mataas na Kahoy Mayor Jay Manalo Ilagan was shot dead in an attack on Thursday evening, May 5, 2016 in Brgy. Kinalaglagan, Mataas Na Kahoy, Batangas.

Batangas Provincial Director, Senior Supt. Archie Ronquillo, identified the victim as Ruben Tiquis.

The victim’s brother, Rodolfo, told investigators that the victim was seated at the front passenger seat of the Wrangler Jeep he was driving when one of the suspects, armed with an M16 rifle, alighted from a Mahindra vehicle and fired at the victim.

The suspect immediately fled with other men on board the said vehicle.

Tiquis did not reach Metro San Jose Medical Center alive.

Batangas scene of the crime operatives recovered six shells of M16 armalite rifle from the crime scene.

Hours later, personnel of the Batangas Provincial Intelligence Branch and the Public Safety Company arrested 10 men on board two vehicles—a Black Hyundai Getz with plate number VDN-180; and a White Ford Ranger with plate number AAB-3234—found carrying high power and low power firearms along Barangay Santol, in Mataas Na Kahoy.

They were identified as Clarito Lota, Hasim Abbise, Johnny Muallam, Ramir Abbilani and Ramly Bariwa who were on board the first vehicle. The other suspects on board the Ford Ranger introduced themselves as Sarri Hassim, Eddie Donggon, Rodrigo Anyayahan, Mursidi Jalaidi and Manny Omar.

Rodolfo positively identified Bariwa and Jalaidi to be the gunmen who fired shots at the victim.
