• Drought-stricken Iloilo villages get water supply

ILOILO CITY: The city government provided water supply to severely drought-affected barangays here while awaiting budget from the calamity fund required to pass through tedious bidding process. Pending the release, Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, ordered the distribution of water to requesting villages like Barangay Lanit in Jaro for Iloilo River Plains Subd., Phase I and several other villages severely affected by drought. Four water tankers of the city engineering office and two tankers by the Iloilo City Action Group (ICAG) and Iloilo Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce have been used. The city council passed a resolution declaring the city under a state of water calamity. The declaration paved the way for the use of P3 million from the calamity fund for water deliveries.
