A drug-crazed man took as hostages several of his relatives, including a two-year-old girl, for almost three hours in their house in Quezon City before surrendering to the police.
Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, chief of the Quezon City police station in La Loma, said 22-year-old Gerry Lo was high on drugs when he locked up his mother and three cousins in their house on Halcon Street in Barangay Sta. Teresita, at around 10 a.m.
Lo had stabbed his mother, Luzviminda, 45, and cousin John Carlo Geledon with a bladed weapon and herded them into a room along with two other cousins, Mary Rose Gelendon, 16, and the baby girl.
Lo’s father called up the police, who pleaded with Lo to free his hostages. He eventually released them and surrendered.
Lo has been described as shabu user for two past years.
He faces charges of frustrated parricide, frustrated homicide and multiple physical injuries.
