A MEMBER of the notorious Tinga drug syndicate that used to operate in Taguig City was sentenced to life imprisonment for drug trafficking.
Judge Antonio Olivete of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 267 found Joel Tinga guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of selling shabu.
Tinga was arrested during a buy-bust conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. He sold P60,000 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman.
The court directed city jail officials to transfer Tinga to the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City. Police said
Joel is a cousin of former Taguig Mayor Freddie Tinga.
Police records showed that Joel was one of the members of the Tinga drug syndicate that was busted by the police. The other members who have been arrested and charged were Elisa, Henry, Joana, Fernando, Allan Carlos, Alberto, and Bernardo – all bearing the surname Tinga.
During its heyday, the Tinga drug syndicate sold drugs not only in Taguig but also in other parts of Metro Manila.
