A member of the Moro-Ranrael-Melendrez Drug Group was arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) while serving a search warrant in Camalig, Albay, on Sunday.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Mary Jane Rivera y Melendrez, 27, a targeted drug personality, single, and a resident of Barangay Quirangay and Barangay 1, Camalig, Albay.
At about 6 p.m., joint elements of PDEA Regional Office 5 (PDEA RO 5) under the supervision of Director Archie Grande, PNP PRO5 R2-PSOG and PNP RPSB were serving a search warrant in Barangay Quirangay, Camalig, Albay, which led to the arrest of Rivera and seizure of four pieces of transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, weighing more or less nine grams with an estimated market value of P27,000. During the operation the live-in partner of Rivera, identified as Mike Tuella, who is also a member of Moro-Ranrael-Melendrez Drug Group, eluded arrest.
Rivera is now under the custody of the PDEA RO 5 jail facility and will be charged for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
