• Drug-linked village chief killed

TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija: Suspected local vigilantes struck again on Sunday, killing a village chairman of Barangay Caputikan here, who was reportedly under surveillance for drug dealing. Supt. Leandro Novilla, town police chief, said George Mangalindan, 45, was on his way to the town proper with companion Lorna de Jesus when the unidentified suspects shot him several times. De Jesus survived the attack. Novilla said Mangalindan and some village watchmen allegedly ran a shabu business in Caputikan, making half of the over 1,000 residents hooked on the illegal substance. Several sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, an empty shell for caliber 45 pistol and a magazine with several bullets were recovered from Mangalindan. Celso M. Cajucom
