NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Chief Supt. Oscar Albayalde on Wednesday said big time drug lords were behind the summary killings of street-level drug pushers.
“In the killings [of suspected drug suspects], and those [deaths]that are under investigation, it showed that big-time drug pushers are hiring killers or gun-for-hire to neutralize their street pushers or the second-level pushers so that they will not spill their names,” Albayalde told reporters in an interview at the sidelines of the Eastern Police District’s 42nd founding anniversary at the Tanghalang Pasigueño in Pasig City.
Albayalde said they are looking at this angle and the possible involvement of policemen in the alleged killings of drug suspects.
“We will look at all angles. Of course, we cannot discount the fact that there are law enforcers who are also involved,” he said.
“All of these are under investigation and validation,” the NCRPO chief added.
Albayalde said it is possible that some of the drug suspects were killed by vigilante groups.
“We are also looking at this [vigilante killing], but basically of all the investigations that we have conducted, it showed that these drug lords are hiring guns-for-hire to kill the street-level pushers,” he stressed.
