Two weeks after he turned himself in to the police and was released on the condition that he will never go back to his illicit activities, a suspected drug pusher was killed during a buy-bust operation inside his house in Marikina City on Thursday night.
Senior Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, acting director of the Eastern Police District, identified the slain suspect as Jose Bumatay Jr. of Barangay Taniong of this city.
The suspect is on the drug watch list of the Marikina police, Sapitula said.
Operatives of the Marikina police anti-illegal drug special task force who conducted a buy-bust operation at 10:50 p.m. at the suspect’s house said Bumatay pulled out a gun when he sensed that his buyer was a policeman.
The suspect ran upstairs and engaged the police officers in a firefight which resulted in his immediate death.
Recovered from Bumatay were a .38 caliber revolver and a sachet of suspected shabu.
