Drug suspect killed in San Mateo


A suspected drug pusher was killed in a buy-bust in San Mateo town, Rizal province before midnight on Monday. Supt. Noel Ponollera, San Mateo police chief, said Gerry Saliwan was killed after he engaged the police raiding team in a shootout along Prater Street and Daang Bakal Street, Barangay Ampid 1. Saliwan did not reach the hospital alive. Recovered from the suspect’s possession were a .38 caliber revolver, five sachets of shabu and P300 marked money. Some residents said selling of illegal drugs was rampant in their barangay (village) and Saliwan’s house was used as drug den and pot session area.
