Drug suspect who bolted jail slain

KIDAPAWAN CITY: One of three high-risk detainees who bolted jail was shot dead by police on Thursday evening in Pikit town in North Cotabato after he tried to elude pursuing policemen.

Report said Mama Mandagia Makalati, alias Marco, was hiding in a vacant hou se in Barangay Tinutulan in Pikit, prompting the law enforcers village officials to track him down.

But the fugitive allegedly fled upon seeing an approaching police team led by Senior Insp. Sindato Mundas Karim, Pikit chief of police.

Makalati and another drug suspect, Ting Puti Mustapa, and bombing suspect Esmael Nasser, alias Derbi, were subject of massive manhunt after they escaped from the provincial jail in Kidapawan City on Wednesday.

  1. Am i reading this right ? The police shot and killed a unarmed escapee who was trying to run away ?

Must be the difference between first world and 3rd world, In first world countries the police are not allowed to shoot unarmed criminals, if they do they are charged with murder.
