MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan: For fear that he will be executed next, a policeman from the city police here surrendered to Mayor Christian Natividad, admitting that he was engaged as a financier and trader of illegal drugs.
Bulacan PNP Acting Provincial Director, Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat, said Police Officer (PO)3 Rogelio “Bigboy” Sta. Ana was turned over by the mayor on Monday, along with 900 drug dependents who also surrendered.
Sta. Ana admitted that he and PO2 Michael Manalad, earlier found dead and believed to be a victim of summary execution, were partners in the illegal drug trade as financier and pusher.
Sta. Ana admitted he and Manalad used the service car of the Malolos City Police Patrol Unit in their drug transactions in the cities of Meycauayan and Malolos and the towns of Marilao, Plaridel, Bocaue.
Caramat said that Sta. Ana remains in the custody of the Bulacan PNP facing administrative charges.
Meanwhile, Natividad said that the drug personalities who surrendered include four barangay councilmen and a chief of village watchmen (tanod).
He said there was an increase in the number after Manalad was found dead last Thursday, adding that eight casual employees at City Hall were sacked over their involvement in drugs.
