Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna: A suspected drug trafficker bound for Puerto Galera in Mindoro was arrested in Batangas Port on Wednesday, bringing to 1,202 the number of drug dealers arrested in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) Region, with 47 deaths in police operations since January this year.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 4A (PDEA RO4A) Director Jigger Montallana identified the suspect as Adriel Datingguinoo.
Datingguinoo was bound for Puerto Galera to transport about 25 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) found in his possession when frisked by operatives.
Meanwhile, Calabarzon police recorded that 47 suspected drug pushers were killed from encounters during a series of operations from January to May this year.
Of the number, eight were dead in Cavite; 14 in Rizal; six in Batangas; 18 in Laguna and one in Quezon.
The same report added that around 1,201 drug pushers and users were arrested, with 749 of them are facing charges.
Police also confiscated a total of 1,235 grams of shabu with an estimated P14 million street value.
