THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) confirmed on Monday that some of the relief packs distributed to residents of Boracay Island were contaminated because of improper handling and hauling.

“We apologize. We do not want to see this happening because we give paramount importance to the welfare of the people,” Rebecca Geamala, DSWD Western Visayas director, said in a statement.
