ILOILO CITY: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Region 6 will start validating the social pension of 11,873 indigent senior citizens 77 years old and above next month. The validation will focus on 940 families in Western Visayas under the Modified Conditional Cash Transfer Program-Families in Need of Special Protection (MCCT-FNSP). Wenna Bendol of the DSWD regional office said the special validation is expected to legitimize the resumption of payment of monthly stipends to senior citizens. The special validation of the MCCT-FNSP beneficiaries will result in their inclusion in the Listahanan database that will guarantee their advancement to the regular Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. Bendol said only 4,478 received monthly stipends in the first quarter of the year because they were included in Listahan database. The suspension of the payment of the monthly stipends of those who are not in the database is based on the General Appropriations Act which includes a provision that only those in the NHTS list, now known as Listahanan, can be paid.
