BALANGA CITY: The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) kicked off its three-day “diskwento caravan” on Wednesday at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga in Bataan. DTI provincial director Nelin Cabahug said 41 small and medium enterprises are participating in the program offering 10 percent and more discount on products like school supplies, uniforms, food items and other household needs. Fresh pineapples from Samal, lasa brooms from Abucay and other vegetables and fruits are on sale with prices much lower than in public markets. Cabahug said the caravan is being held nationwide this month and the target sale for three days is P1 million. “Maituturing na malaking serbisyo publiko ito ng mga maliliit na negosyante para makatulong lalo na sa mga magulang sa pamamagitan ng bawas na presyo ngayong malapit na naman ang pasukan ng mga bata [We consider the caravan as a big public service especially to parents now that school opening is near],” said Balanga City Vice-Mayor Noel Valdecanas. DTI started the project in Bataan in 2011.
