Durant withdraws from 2014 FIBA World Cup

COLORADO SPRINGS: US star forward Kevin Durant has pulled out of the 2014 FIBA World Cup, saying he is “mentally drained” from a long NBA regular season and playoff. Durant’s decision to withdraw on Thursday (Friday in Manila) is another heavy blow to embattled Team USA and comes just five days after they lost Paul George to a broken leg on Saturday at the team’s training camp in Las Vegas. Durant told team officials on Thursday that he was “physically and mentally drained from the NBA season and his attention to his many responsibilities.”
