Meralco snapped a two-game losing skid by toppling Rain or Shine, 109-102, on Wednesday in the Philippine Basketball Association Season 41 Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Import Allen Durham tallied 32 points on 13-of-23 shooting in the field along with 12 rebounds plus five assists, two steals and two blocks to hand the Bolts a 3-2 win-loss record.

“First quarter we set off a good start and I’m very happy that Allen [Durham] came out very aggressive tonight,” said Meralco mentor Norman Black during the post game interview.

“We never thought of replacing him.”

Bryan Faundo posted 12 points, rookie Chris Newsome also finished with 12 points, Cliff Hodge had 11 points, while Jared Dillinger and Baser Amer contributed 10 points each also for the Bolts.

The Bolts started the game on a high note outscoring the Elasto Painters 35-21 in the first quarter and they were never threatened the rest of the way.

They established a 16-0 lead highlighted by the eight points each of Durham and Newsome.

Meralco took a commanding 65-47 lead at halftime before turning it to an insurmountable 91-65 advantage in the middle of fourth quarter.

Rain or Shine narrowed the gap to just nine points with less than two-minute left, but there wasn’t enough time left.

Rain or Shine fell to 2-2 win-loss record.

Import Dior Lowhorn led Rain or Shine with 25 points and eight rebounds.
