Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte can kill small fry but cowers before big-time syndicates, Liberal Party (LP) presidential bet Manuel Roxas 2nd said.
Roxas, a former Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government, reacted when Duterte said that he can not be President because he is afraid to kill people and is afraid to die.
“I have been to Zamboanga myself, I stayed there for three weeks to oversee police and military operations. Hindi po ako takot mamatay, ang akin ay hindi pwede na basta-basta tayo pumatay ng tao na walang proseso. Ang mga mahihirap lang ang pinapatay diyan [I am not afraid to die. And as far as I am concerned, we can’t kill people without due process],” Roxas said.
He was referring to the Zamboanga siege from September 9 to 28, 2013, when rogue Moro National Liberation Front members led by Nur Misuari tried to forcibly take over Zamboanga City.
“Have you killed big time criminals? Who are they? Whatever comes to your mind, that’s it. That’s the brand of Duterte justice. Even if what comes to your mind is not true, you will believe it and take action,” Roxas said.
