PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Friday revealed that criminals have shifted to kidnapping from drugs in the last four months.
In remarks before a convention of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Duterte said six kidnappings have been reported in the last three weeks in Binondo, Manila’s Chinatown.
“Bagong laro na naman ito [This is a new play]. We have six kidnappings in three weeks in Binondo,” he said.
Duterte’s statement came amid the alert issued by the US government to its citizens to avoid traveling to southern Cebu, specifically in Dalaguete and Santander, amid kidnapping threats by terror groups
The US Embassy in Manila reminded Americans about the “ongoing threat of terrorist actions against the United States citizens and interests abroad, including the Philippines.”
