President Rodrigo Duterte has signed an executive order limiting the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
Executive Order (EO) 28, which the President signed on June 20, limited the use of firecrackers to “community fireworks display.”
Such displays should be under the supervision of a trained person duly licensed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and must have been allowed by the municipality or city.
The EO also ordered the PNP to draw a list of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices that will be prohibited even in community fireworks displays.
The PNP, Department of Health, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Bureau of Fire Protection were also mandated to promulgate rules and regulations for the implementation of the EO.
