Duterte, PCSO officials grace navy’s 119th anniversary in Davao

In support to the aim of the Philippine Navy (PN) to upgrade the capability of the Medical Treatment Facilities (MTF) of Strategic Sealift Vessel (SSV) LD602, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) granted the request of the aquatic arm of the military for the procurement of standard medical equipment.

As approved under Board Resolution No. 0098, Series 2017, the collaboration between the two government agencies is necessary to enhance the capability of the PN fleet in conducting limited medical operations and surgeries and treatment to patients during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) situations.

On the occasion of PN’s 119th founding anniversary, no less than President Rodrigo Duterte attended the celebration held at the Sasa Wharf in Davao City, the first to be held in his hometown. He led in the commissioning of BRP Davao del Sur, the second Strategic Sealift Vessel (SSV) of the Philippine Fleet. The said vessel together with BRP Gregorio del Pilar were open to the public from June 1 to 9 as part of the celebration.
