PRESIDENT-elect Rodrigo Duterte is considering Alfonso Cusi, former chief of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), as his energy secretary, his spokesman said.
Lawyer Salvador Panelo confirmed to the media Friday Cusi’s pending appointment.
Cusi, vice chairman of the incoming ruling party PDP-Laban, was general manager of the Manila International Airport Authority before his stint at the CAAP.
He is a known political ally of former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and was widely believed to have been forced out of his position when President Benigno Aquino 3rd assumed office.
Meanwhile, Duterte also plans to appoint former acting justice secretary Jose Calida as solicitor general.
Calida used to be an undersecretary at the Department of Justice. CATHERINE S. VALENTE
