• Duterte turns down Miriam

DAVAO CITY: The answer is no.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday rejected Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s “offer” to become her running mate in 2016, saying he has no plans to run for a higher office.

“I am flattered, honored by this, but unfortunately, as I have already said, I am not good for national office. Besides, I intend to retire after this term,” Duterte said.

Santiago on Wednesday said she is considering Duterte, Sen. Grace Poe and former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro as her running mates.

“I would love to run with Duterte,” the senator said.

But, according to Duterte, Teodoro would make a good running mate.

“I am asking Gilbert Teodoro to accept this,” he said, adding that he will be giving his all-out support to the cousin of President Benigno Aquino 3rd.
