It can be recalled that the famous actress and comedienne Joy Viado, who was diagnosed last 2000 with diabetes, was admitted to Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) in May because of an infected wound on her lower right leg that started with a mosquito bite. Her medical condition has aggravated that almost resulted to leg amputation.

Thankfully, friends and fans of Viado staged a benefit concert to raise funds for her medication. Her fellow celebrities readily offered help including Bernardo Bernardo as the host, and Gino Padilla, Richard Merk and Noel Cabangon as perfromers, among many others.

This coming October, Dr. James Dy also comes to Viado’s aide as he initiated another benefit concert for the veteran comedienne. Dubbed Jam for Joy 2, it is slated on October 3, 7 p.m. at the 6th floor of the Auditorium Bldg. of CGHMC.

Celebrities expected to join the show include Willie Nepomuceno, El Gamma Penumbra, Marissa Sanchez, Richard Reynoso, Allyna Velasquez, Bernardo Bernardo and more surprise celebrity performers. They committed to help raise funds for Viado who is undergoing a remedy called hyperbaric sessions at the CGHMC after the third debridement surgery.

“It’s getting better now but I don’t have enough money now to cover my medical expenses so Dr. Dy is helping us out to raise more funds,” said Viado, who is very thankful to those who helped her in her first charity concert.

Her hospital expenses cost more than P10,000 daily that includes P6,000 hyperbaric session and the rest for medicines. She was confined at the CGHMC for two and a half months and still undergoing hyperbaric sessions.

Tickets priced at P1,000 each are available at CGHMC Information Section and at the venue on the concert day.
