Eastern Petroleum to open 100 LPG outlets in 2016

EASTERN Petroleum Corp., one of the country’s independent oil players, is keen to add more liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) outlets in the Greater Manila area within the year as part of its campaign to provide Philippine households with the safest LPG supply in the market.

The company sells the Eastern EC Gas LPG System, its explosion-proof LPG brand. It recently inaugurated its first EC Gas company-owned and operated (CoCo) outlet in Dapitan, Manila.

The company is targeting to open around 100 EC Gas CoCo outlets within the year at a rate of five outlets a month.

“Soon, we will be opening CoCo EC Gas outlets in Bacoor, Cavite City, and Gen. Trias in Cavite, Tondo, Manila, Pasig City, Parañaque City, and Quezon City to provide households with the safest LPG and let them enjoy savings they could generate from the use of EC Gas,” Eastern Petroleum chairman and CEO Fernando Martinez said.

He said the decision to open EC Gas CoCo outlets enhances their current retail network of franchise-owned outlets and brings the company closer to its five-year expansion program targets.

“It does not compete with the current roster of franchisees, but complements the existing retail network, as these new EC Gas CoCo outlets will cater to the untapped areas around the country,” Martinez said.

“Expanding our retail network helps us in achieving our target to bring EC Gas closer to households and to ensure their investments and loved ones are always safe,” he said.

He said the company is looking for potential sites for their LPG outlets all over the country. “We are also currently working to open in North, Central and South Luzon,” he said.

Martinez said Eastern EC Gas users can expect to make 30-50 percent savings in their monthly LPG consumption as experienced by the first 45,000 users, which they could use to finance their other needs.

In addition, he said the company is set to open a number of Eastern Petroleum retail stations in Visayas and Mindanao to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary in December this year.

The EC Gas LPG System is designed based on the latest composite cylinder technology that uses seamless polymer, fiberglass construction, and molded HDPE (high-density polyethylene) casing. It also comes with specially designed regulators that are built for efficiency and safety and also built to last.

Martinez said this technology makes EC Gas cylinders explosion-proof even if directly exposed to fire, 70 percent lighter than steel tanks, and translucent, which makes the LPG content visible to its users.

He said that at present, there are 9 million composite cylinders in use by LPG producers and distributors around the globe. And Eastern Petroleum takes pride in being the first Philippine oil company to pioneer in introducing the use of composite cylinders in the country.

“Consumer awareness of the perils of using conventional steel LPG cylinders that are prone to explosion due to tank pilferage continues to grow. Hence, there is a need to provide them with the best alternative that promises them the peace of mind they need as their homes are safer as their kitchens are equipped with Eastern EC Gas LPG systems,” Martinez said.

Eastern Petroleum is one of the founding members of the Independent Philippine Petroleum Companies Association of the Philippines.
