THE Eastern Police District (EPD) on Wednesday reminded all its station commanders to be on guard against possible attacks by the New People's Army (NPA) during President Rodrigo Duterte's third State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 23.

"I instructed all our station commanders and PCP [Police Community Precinct] commanders to always be on the alert. We are not discounting the possibility of resurgence of violent actions coming from the NPA considering that the eastern jurisdiction of Eastern Police District is near Rizal [province] area where we had our insurgency problem and also the presence of some progressive groups in the nearby cities," Senior Supt. Bernabe Balba, EPD acting director, told The Manila Times in an interview.
