Echiverri’s men arrested for mauling Malapitan supporter

TWO reported “strikers” of Rep. Enrico “Recom” Echiverri were arrested on Thursday by Caloocan City police after they allegedly mauled a supporter of Mayor Oscar Malapitan.

Frederico Perez and Reynaldo Ortega denied the accusations hurled against them by a certain Kyle Crisostomo.

Police said Crisostomo, 14, was mauled by the two after they saw him holding a poster of Malapitan.

Echiverri, who is still legally qualified to run as the city’s representative in the House of Representatives, opted to return to his old post which he held for nine years.

Malapitan is seeking reelection.

Former Mayor Boy Asistio is also running for mayor.

The supposed mauling incident took place at D. Aquino St. corner 9th Ave.

Barangay 74 Councilor Ernie Crisostomo, who claimed to have witnessed the crime, said the suspects suddenly appeared in front of his son and started beating him, forcibly taking the campaign poster.

The Crisostomos filed charges of assault on a government official and physical injury to a minor.
