• EcoWaste urges QC health office to beef up product monitoring

A pro-public health watch group on Monday said the Quezon City health office should do their job of monitoring. This came after the group discovered that three Chinese Drug Stores were selling skin whitening cream products that contain toxic substances that pose as a danger to the people’s health. Aileen Lucero, EcoWaste Coalition coordinator, said the products are banned by the Food and Drug Administration because high mercury content. Lucero said mercury-containing skin lightening cosmetics are hazardous to health as repeated use could lead to damage of the kidneys, nervous system and the skin itself as manifested by dermal discoloration, rashes and scars.
