A lot of good things have been happening to young and up-and-coming singer Edward Benosa.

Since officially launching his eponymous debut album and single under Star Music early this year, the song “Di Man Lang Nagpaalam” (with words and music by Arnold Reyes, who is also his manager), Edward has seen his popularity grow in a very significant way.

The single, a light pop ballad about a loved one who leaves without saying goodbye, has consistently risen up the charts of Metro Manila radio stations. It has also been making a mark on radio countdowns and in sales charts in major cities all over the country, including Davao, Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro.

“Di Man Lang Nagpaalam” spent 11 weeks in the Pinas FM weekly countdown, and was ranked number 24 in the Pinoy Top 100 official 2015 mid-year tally by the Philippine Music Charts.

Moreover, the song’s official music video, uploaded on YouTube, has earned over 400,000 views so far and counting. It has further attracted numerous comments from fans, including some who describe it as “a nice song for the broken-hearted” and one that they can relate to.

Before landing this hit, Edward’s songs “Iingatan Ko” and “Ikaw Lamang,” were made popular in the ABS-CBN’s teleserye Moon of Desire.

This year, Edward was also nominated as Best New Artist in the second MOR Pinoy Music awards. Although he lost to Morissette Amon, he considers the nomination a big honor, especially for a newbie like him in the music business.

“At the time of the nomination, I had only been in the industry for four months. ‘Yun pa lang, sobrang blessing na,” he enthused. “For me, sign na ‘yon nahuwagtumigil, at mag-record pa ng mga nakaka-inspire na songs.”

Edward is overwhelmed to have actual fan groups supporting him and his music these days. He considers them his inspiration to keep going, especially since he had almost quit his dream of becoming a singer when he was turned down after auditioning for The Voice of the Philippines.

Now that a second chance has come and his career is looking up, he is definitely a happy man.

Edward is especially grateful to Star Music and friends he has made in the music business for his big break.

“Gusto kong sabihin sa kanila, salamat sa trust, at sa pag bigay sa akin ng chance na ma-affect kosila through my songs,” says Edward. “Kung na-i-inspire sila sa music ko, I want them to know na na-i-inspire din ako, and that this time, I’m really serious about making it.”
