Eid’l Adha to begin on October 4

MARAWI CITY: The celebration of Eid’l Adha or festival of the sacrifice will begin on October 4, the Darul Ifta (Islamic house of opinion) announced on Monday. The Eid’l Adha begins on the 10th day of the month of Dhul Hijjah annually in the lunar-based Hijri calendar. The High Judiciary Council in Saudi Arabia announced last week that the first day of the month of Dhul Hijjah began on September 25 which means the Eid’l Adha will start on October 4, said Saad Amate, member of the Regional Darul Ifta of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Malacañang had earlier declared October 6 as a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha, which also mark the end of annual hajj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where thousands of Filipinos joined Muslims all over the world to fulfill one of the five pillars of Islam.
