THE National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has scheduled an eight-hour power interruption for the entirety of Mountain Province and parts of Benguet today, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To be affected are the entire franchise area of the Mountain Province Electric Cooperative Inc. (Mopreco) and the areas of service of the Benguet Electric Cooperative Inc.’s (Beneco) sub-stations in Atok and Bulalacao, NGCP’s press relations officer Lilibeth Gaydowen said. Gaydowen added that the power interruption will allow the NGCP to replace “selected line hardware along [the]La Trinidad-Bulalacao 69kV line 1 and shifting back of power source from [the]La Trinidad-Bulalacao 69kV line 2 to line 1.” Specific areas that may be affected by the power interruption are determined by the above-mentioned Distribution Utility (DU), unless the activity will have an effect on the entire franchise area. The DU allocates the available power within its franchise area and implements the power interruption schedule among the end-users, she said. Normal operations of the NGCP will immediately resume after the completion of the work scheduled on the specified lines and the NGCP advises consumers located within the affected areas to take the necessary preparations for the power interruption. Gaydowen also advised affected consumers to take the necessary precautions as the resumption of power may come earlier than announced.
