Milan “El Metodico” Melindo will collide against former World Boxing Association (WBA) light flyweight champion Jose Alfredo Rodriguez of Mexico on November 30, in Pinoy Pride 23: Filipinos kontra Latinos at the Araneta Coliseum.
Melindo, who lost to reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) and WBA flyweight champion Mexican Juan Manuel Estrada via 12-round unanimous decision in Macau on July, said he is ready for another world title shot.
“I already moved on and I prepared a lot for my upcoming bout,” said Melindo, 25, who holds 29-1 win-loss slate with 12 knockouts. “
Rodriguez, 24, who has 29 wins against two losses with 18 knockouts under his name, is a known defensive fighter who throws big punches.
In comparison, Melindo is technical fighter with fast reflexes that throws lethal combinations and counter-punches.
Melindo’s compatriots Donnie “Ahas” Nietes and Merlito “Tiger” Sabillo will also stake their world titles against separate rivals in the ALA promotions event. WBO light flyweight champion Nietes will defend his title against Mexican Sammy Gutierrez while WBO minimum weight champ Sabillo will fight undefeated Nicaraguan Carlos Buitrago.
