The influential El Shaddai, a Catholic group led by Bro. Mike Velarde, endorsed the vice presidential bid of Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
However, the group, which votes as a bloc, did not endorse a presidential candidate.
Yesterday, the group distributed sample ballots containing the name of Marcos and the 12 senatorial candidates it is supporting.
The 12 Senate bets are Raffy Alunan, Leila de Lima, Win Gatchalian, TG Guingona, Manny Pacquiao, Kiko Pangilinan, Ralph Recto, Martin Romualdez, Roman Romulo, Francis Tolentino, Joel Villanueva, and Miguel “Migz” Zubiri.
El Shaddai’s endorsement of Marcos will give a big boost to the senator’s bid, coming on the heels of the endorsement of Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC).
El Shaddai has an estimated eight million members all over the world.
On April 30, Marcos attended the prayer vigil of El Shaddai. The Ilocano lawmaker is being endorsed by Buhay Party-list Rep. Lito Atienza. The party-list is 100 percent being supported by El Shaddai.
Marcos held his “miting de avance” yesterday in Mandaluyong City, whose chief executive Mayor Benhur Abalos is the Marcos for VP Movement National Capital Region campaign manager.
“No one can prevent Marcos from becoming vice president. He has the vision for a progressive Philippines. He has the needed skills, attitude, and knowledge in running an executive position since he was once a vice governor and governor,” Abalos said.
Although Marcos is running as an independent, many local leaders adopted him as their VP candidate.
