RAIN or Shine aims to sustain its momentum as it seek a commanding 3-1 lead against Talk ‘N Text in Game Four of the best-of-seven championship series of the 40th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup at 7 p.m. today at the Araneta Coliseum.
After securing a comfortable 2-1 advantage, coach Yeng Guiao of the Elasto Painters is expecting some adjustments from the Tropang Texters and stressed their preparedness for a more physical game.
“We had anticipated some things they might do [in Game Three]. Pero di nila ipinakita so we just kept our game plan in the warehouse. We’ll probably make use of it based on the kind of defense they will play in Game Four,” said Guiao.
The Elasto Painters displayed deadly form, hitting 13 triples to post a 109-97 win, which was a fitting follow-up to their 116-108 victory in Game Two. They lost in Game One, 92-99, on Wednesday.
Despite losing a tooth, Paul Lee is all set to lead the Elasto Painters’ offense anew, saying what happened in Game Three where he was hit by an elbow of import Ivan Johnson was really part of the game.
“Kahit ano ang mangyari, I will come back. Gusto kong manalo. Yan ang tinatawag na finals,” said Lee.
However, coach Jong Uichico of Talk ‘N Text remains unfazed and vowed to bounce back in the next game.
“It’s not a race to three but a race to four. We have just to get the job done. It’s really physical; It’s championship time anyway. We have to find a way to win; it’s just the way the game is. If you back down in the physicality, then you give the upper hand to the other team,” Uichico said.
