The country’s top motorboat racers will dispute this year’s “master-bangkero” title while top clubs and university teams will test their mettle in the dragon boat competition of the 2016 Manila Bay Seasports Festival, which will be held from March 19 and 20.
Olympic rowers, Southeast Asian Games medalists, and members of the various Philippine national teams that have ruled numerous World Dragon Boat Championships will all see action in the two-day event presented by Manila Broadcasting Company and the City of Manila, in cooperation with the Philippine Coast Guard. Races begin at 8 a.m. Music artists have been invited to grace the awarding ceremonies that will cap the two-day event. The 2016 Manila Bay Seasports Festival is supported by Cobra Energy Drink, Kremtop, The Generics Pharmacy, Executive Optical, Revicon, M. Lhuillier, My Juiz, White Castle, and Herco Trading Corporation. The Manila Bay Summer Seasports Festival is once more expected to draw big crowds to the Baywalk area along Roxas Boulevard.
Among the participating teams are the Bruins, UP Alumni, EAM Events Paddling Interactive Crew, Adamson University, NTMA Dragons, Manila Ocean Park, Philippine Blue Phoenix, Onslaught Racing Dragons, Rogue Pilipinas Paddlers, Pilipinas Wave Warriors, Maharlika Drakon, Dragons Republic Paddlers, One Piece Drakon Sangres, Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Coast Guard, Triton A & B, RCP Sea Dragons, and Amateur Paddlers Philippines.
Motorboat racers from all over the Philippines will compete in stock and formula races, traditionally dominated by boatmen from Rizal, Bataan, Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, La Union, Quezon, Ilocos Sur and Navotas.
