Filipino duathletes gear up for a chance to slug it out with the best in the sport as they seek top honors in the 2017 ASTC Powerman Philippines Asian Championships Presented by Summit Drinking Water on Oct. 8 at Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
Now on its third year, the event is expected to lure a minimum of 800 local and foreign participants from all around the world, including elite athletes from the US, Europe, Australia and Asia Pacific regions.
The organizing F&B International Events Group said the upcoming event will serve as a qualifier for the Powerman World Championships in Zofingen, Switzerland.
“The driving force behind this year’s event is to bring the Filipino duathlete to the world stage. It’s all about investing in their potential with the ultimate goal of sending our top duathletes to the 2019 Powerman World Championships in Zofingen, Switzerland,” said Powerman Philippines general manager and coach Kaye Lopez.

Events on tap are the premier Powerman Classic (10km run, 60km bike and 10km run), the Powerman Short (5km run, 30km bike and 5km run) and the Powerteens set on smooth, wide roads of Clark with the course offering scenic views of SCTEx.
Presented by Summit Drinking Water, the event is backed by Clark Freeport Zone and SCTEx as official venue partners, official energy drink Cobra, official sports apparel partner Columbia, official sports nutrition partner ActiveHealth, official timing partner Garmin and event partners Seafood Island Restaurant, Hammer Nutrition, Dan’s Endurance, 2XU and Skechers Performance.
The event is also staged to promote run-bike-run both as a sport and a lifestyle. It encourages runners to enjoy biking and bikers to love running.
