US-based technology and manufacturing company Emerson officially opened a new shared service facility in the country on Thursday which will provide training and services to its global, regional and local customers, and space to accommodate future growth.
This $35-million Quezon City Shared Service facility, together with the Emerson Process Management engineering and service center which opened in June 2014, brings Emerson’s investment in the Philippines for the past year to a total of $55 million.
David Farr, chairman and chief executive officer of Emerson, said that the opening of the facility “is a great milestone in the history of Emerson in the Philippines, especially in our 125th year as a company. We’ve have been doing business in the Philippines since 1995.”
Farr said the main reason why Emerson keeps investing in the country is because of the people.
“Investing in the Philippines to access its educated, skilled and professional-minded work force is a key element of our strategy to succeed in Asia,” Farr said.
“This new facility allows us to accommodate additional employees and provide the necessary training infrastructure to ensure our customers receive first-class services and offerings,” he said.
Emerson in the Philippines has been growing by10 percent annually, according to Phil Kelaart, vice president and general manager of Emerson Philippines.
“With globalization, customers are expecting a team with an international mindset and technical knowledge. Our team in the Philippines has the capability and drive to provide these high-quality services. We also have the added bonus of providing customers with specialized facilities for our Process Management and Climate Technologies businesses,” Kelaart said.
The Integrated Solutions center features the technologies and solutions of the different Emerson business platforms. For example, Emerson Process Management allows customers to experience the company’s solutions that optimize process efficiency and remote diagnostics.
Emerson Process Management’s Technical Learning Center aims to enhance professional development of its in-house technical engineers and customers, by bridging the gap between field experience and classroom training.
The facility also features the Emerson Climate Technologies Partner+ Technical & Training Center which provides heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) contractors with training and education on the basics of advanced refrigeration principles.
The comprehensive service program offered to HVACR contractors and end-users aims to empower contractors and end-users to make sound business decisions and improve job performance.
Emerson Philippines provides support for the company and its customers in the areas of accounting, customer support, finance, information technology, human resources, marketing, business development and supply chain management, and has grown from a few hundred employees to approximately 4,400 in 2014.
The new facility, located at SM Cyber West Avenue, EDSA corner West Avenue, will initially house 2,300 employees. Emerson has other facilities located in Mandaluyong City and Pasig City.
