ENFINITY Imperial Solar Homes Inc. (EISHI), a partnership between Enfinity Philippines and low-cost socialized builder Imperial Homes Corp. (IHC), has rolled out a solar power solution that could provide 24-hour electricity supply to its socialized housing projects in Batangas.

Enfinity Philippines, a unit of Belgium-based renewable energy firm Enfinity Group, partnered with IHC, a pioneer in solar powered mass housing communities, to carry out the project.

Emma Imperial, IHC president, said the project is an upgrade of their 100-megawatt (MW) daytime solar-powered low-cost homes in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

The house-and-lot packages include a 1,000-watt solution that can produce four kilowatts per hour (kWh) per day, providing electricity for the homebuyer day and night.

Installation of a solar power solution, which includes the inverter, battery, monitor and solar panel, costs between P150,000 and P165,000.

“The installation cost will be included in the loan amortization of buyers,” Imperial told reporters in a briefing.

Imperial said financing for the solar solution will be provided by Enfinity Philippines through its partnership with Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and Pagibig Fund.

Gino Van Neer, founder and chief executive officer of Enfinity Global, said other financing models will soon be launched by the group that will provide solar project financing to mass housing developers.

Neer said the solar solution can power a number of appliances including a refrigerator, two electric fans, one television, two chargers or laptops, three LED lights, and a washing machine and rice cooker.

For an off-grid system of 1,000 watts solution with battery, Neer said the buyer can reduce electricity costs by about P1,560 per month and save an estimated P500 per month even with a 30-year amortization.

“The buyer in an off-grid system can still connect to the grid in cases of rainy days and if the homeowner would like to add air-condition units to their homes,” said Neer.

On the part of the developers, this will save advance installation costs if required by the utility companies prior to grid connection.

“The 24-hour solar solution is a win-win solution for both the developer and the home buyer,” said Imperial.

She said that the IHC-Enfinity solar panel solution provides a 25-year performance warranty and a 10-year equipment guarantee ensuring A-class quality equipment that will provide big savings even for a 30-year amortization period.
