Two gunmen shot to death a civil engineer early dawn Sunday while he was playing chess inside a public market in Ponteverde, Capiz, police reported on Monday. Western Visayas police commander, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., quoting reports, identified the victim as Juan Baclor, 51, a civil engineer and businessman of Brgy. Tabuc, Ponteverde, Capiz. The police official said Baclor was playing chess at around 2:25 a.m. inside the Capiz Public Market when the gunman approached and shot him at the back of his head. The gunman, wearing sunglasses and jacket casually walked towards a waiting motorcycle driven by another person in white shirt and sped towards the direction of Panitan, the reports said. Baclor was rushed by responding policemen to the Bailan Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, the reports said.
