The Philippine Movement for Climate Justice on Thursday expressed their disappointment over the decision of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to lift the suspension order on the Environment Compliance Certificate of Semirara Mining and Power Corporation. They claimed that the firm was accountable to the death of nine workers and other crimes committed against the environment. Liddy Nakpil, PMCJ national convenor, said the DENR and the Department of Energy should shut down Semirara coal mining operations.

      • You’re right Ikabod, during the 2013 incident that claimed the lives of 5 coal miners the DoE lifted the suspension barely 2 mos. after the incident. And it happened weeks after DMCI released statements that their stocks are dwindling in the financial market.
