The digital enterprise arm of the country’s leading telecommunications company is urging local firms to tap opportunities in big data analytics.
Nerissa S. Ramos, group chief operation officer of ePLDT, said big data analytics strategies can accelerate business growth as these allow enterprises to tailor-fit products and services for their markets.
“When organizations are able to identify the needs of their market, they are more empowered to act on those needs. Imagine what a happy customer base you will have if you are able to address their needs before they even know it themselves,” Ramos said
She said analytics is a holistic approach that turns information into insight and insight into business outcomes. It organizes and analyzes data to help organization leaders to make better and faster business decisions through the analyzed data.
Business analytics is significant to sectors such as banking, retail, automotive, insurance, travel and transport, computer products, telecommunication, security, health and even government offices.
These sectors can bank on steady growth in Internet and smartphone penetration in the country to adopt big data analytics.
“Every person somehow leaves a digital footprint, whether it’s on social media or with electronic transactions. There is a tremendous amount of data waiting to be mined, refined, and analyzed. With the right infrastructure, tools, and expertise, valuable insight can be gleaned from all this information,” Ramos said.
“The Philippines is a young market for big data. Although awareness is high, adoption has a long way to go. ePLDT is ready to take enterprises through the big data journey via their expert consulting framework,” she added.
As the PLDT Group is a member of the Open Data Platform, a worldwide consortium of Big Data global technology leaders, ePLDT can offer ODP-compliant Analytics Compute Engine (ACE) to kick off big data projects.
The PLDT Group is also the pioneering Asean member in the ODP.
“This and our other enabling digital enterprise endeavors, are testament to the company’s brand promise of ‘Enabling Success’,” Ramos said.
