RETURNING Filipino mixed martial artist Eric “The Natural” Kelly will meet Australian slugger Rob “Ruthless” Lisita on Friday evening in the main event of One Fighting Championship War of Dragons fight card at the National Taiwan University stadium in Taipei, Taiwan.
Although the fight is not a featherweight title bout, the 32-year-old Kelly said he is going to give Lisita a hell of a beating since this will be his first fight in One FC after losing his featherweight belt to fellow Filipino and former champion Honorio Banario last February 2013.
“I’m ready. So far, I’m good 100 percent,” Kelly, a native of Baguio City, told The Manila Times via online interview yesterday after their weigh-in. “I trained for more than four months after my last fight and I’m really so excited to come back and prove that there’s more left in my tank.”
Kelly scored a submission victory via armbar in first round against Chinese Jianbo Lu in Universal Reality Combat Championship last November to improve his win-loss record to 10-1 which eight of those victories came by submission.
The 31-year-old Lisita, for his part, came out from a spectacular first round knockout win over Japanese Yusuke Kawanago in first round May 2 in One FC Rise of Heroes fight card to post a current 14-5 win-loss slate.
A win by Kelly would most likely put him in a featherweight title bout against reigning champion Koji Oishi of Japan in Dubai fight card. Kelly is also known for his Brazilian jiu-jitsu style and great striking prowess.
