    Unseeded Daniel Estanislao 3rd survived Aldwyn Jerico Rosales, 4-6, 6-2, 10-8, on Sunday to advance in the boys’ 12-under category in the 33rd Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open presented by Cebuana Lhuillier and Metro Global Holdings at the PCA courts in Paco, Manila.

    Estanislao will have his hands full in the second round against fourth seed Enrique Jugo, who won via walkover.

    Mindanao bets Minette April Bentillo and Prince Najeeb Langitao made their presence felt in the tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Lawn Tennis Association.

    Bentillo, who is from Sultan Kudarat, overpowered Andre Garcia, 4-0, 4-0. Langitao, who hails from Marawi City, ousted Juan Rafael Mendoza, 4-1, 4-1.

    Bentillo and Langitao advanced into the next round in the 10-under unisex division in the tournament supported by boxing idol Manny Pacquiao, Dunlop, Fujidenzo/Whirlpool, Babolat, Head, Accel, Malate Bayview Mansion, Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils. Inc., Philippine Prudential Life Insurance Company Inc. and Seno Hardware.

    Bentillo will meet Joaquin de Leon, a 4-0, 4-0 winner over April Chrislie Bautista in the second round. Langitao will battle Christine Bautista, who squeaked past Mib Burahan, 5-3, 4-2.

    Joining them in the next round are James Cruz, Jude Hidalgo, Shant Raven Naguit, Pete Andre Rodriguez and Sherwin Naguit.

    Cruz prevailed over Brent So, 4-0, 4-2; Hidalgo over Joshua Diva, 4-2, 4-0; Shant Raven over Hailey Ella Agustin, 4-0, 4-2; Rodriguez over Samantha Rodriguez, 4-2, 4-1; and Naguit over Madhena Raquim, 4-0, 4-2.

    Moving into the next round in the boys’ 14-under, John Alexander Bulilan, Ethan Arejola, Andrian Encinares, Joshua Austria and Christian Lawrence Villarin.

    Also making it into the second round of the boys’ 14-under are Nicholas Ian Balmes and Norman de Castro who claimed their spots via walkover in the event supported by Standard Insurance, United Auctioneers Inc. Foton, Philippine Sports Commission, TLH Sports & Wellness Center/Solinco, Avida Land Corporation, Stronghold Insurance, Ryobi MHI and GMA 7.

    In the executive team event, Team Henry triumphed over PCA Sprint, 3-2, Whirlpool crushed Crame, 5-0, and Cebuana beat Mandaluyong, 3-1.

    Matches in the boys’ 16-under start Monday while action in the girls’ 18-under fires off Tuesday.
