Mayor Joseph Estrada, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and the 36 members of the city council passed the random drug tests conducted in August.
“I am very happy with the results of the random drug testing,” Estrada said, adding that rank and file city hall employees will be tested next.
“The city hall employees and department heads will follow. Those who will be found positive will automatically be dismissed from the service,” the mayor warned.
A surprise drug test was administered on August 18 by One Health Medical Laboratory, Inc. headed by medical technologist Milagros Dolor.
It was the first time in recent years that a city mayor voluntarily submitted himself to a drug test.
Estrada said he wanted to set an example to the two million Manileños and to show that he is serious in his drive to eliminate drugs in the city.
