VALLETA: Sweden and Slovenia on Wednesday became the latest European nations to tighten borders to ease an unprecedented migration crisis as African leaders warned their EU counterparts against building a "fortress" Europe.

The moves came as more than 50 European and African leaders met at a summit in Malta aimed at agreeing a joint strategy to deal with the biggest flow of refugees and migrants since World War II.
